The Gatehouse

Gatehouse wedding St Albans

The Gatehouse at St Albans registry office is a wedding venue I know very well and have photographed many weddings here over the years.

The Gatehouse was once the governor’s residence of the former Victorian prison has beautiful ceremony room which has been created in keeping with the grandeur of the building. The Verulam Room which has been furnished with rich dark colours to give a more traditional feel is situated on the ground floor, it has seating for up to 60 guests

The prominent front doors of the building make a great backdrop for wedding photos and have often featured in films and television programs such as ‘Porridge’. The large gardens in front and to the left of the building include an impressive cannon and the old prison walls make for a great space to capture your group wedding photos.   With ample parking and easy access the Gatehouse is a great place to get married and I have always been impressed by the registrars that show great humility and professionalism in every wedding ceremony they conduct.

See the video below for a preview of Kirsty and Oliver’s wedding I photographed in 2013.
